UN ALTRO MONDO

ANOTHER WORLD

11th September – 17th October 2009
Palazzo Communale di Fiesole (Florence, Italy)

Paddy Campbell has worked as a sculptor in Florence since the mid 1990s, working principally with bronze.

It is clear from a first glance at his almost exclusively figurative work that Paddy loves people and, true to his Irish roots, loves their stories.

His approach is instinctive, immediate and he expresses his models’ inner nature in a physical form that is natural, fluid and beautiful.

Now for the first time, Paddy’s new narrative direction is on show in the form of four scenarios that represent the everyday: a bar, a train, a bathroom and a house. The figures in his scenes invite us to ask questions and write our own story for them. That’s because we know these people, we’ve seen them, we are them, and they talk to us, whoever they are.

In this way they open perspectives that we know already but that are somehow new, renewed as we see our lives from the context of another world.
